Good morning. Back on a school schedule these training weeks. Wake up, feed the cat, make coffee, write something. Shower and shave. Head to the classroom. Off at 4:30. Rinse and repeat.
Current status: spent about an hour retyping the script for a standard call for the new job. Feel 10000000% better about having it down. Start with the standard calls, then the variations, get the standard script down. This is how I learn.
The sex and death movie made me wanna eat fried chicken, and that is why I have a tender tummy today. 😅
Some thoughts on the new job:
- I’m excited to go from theory to practice, because I can’t learn unless theory is there.
- Call center work is important work, but mostly because it’s the first step.
- Not a fixer but a communicator.
- Don’t take it personally when someone is angry. It’s not you.
- You will make mistakes. But the next call is waiting.
- “You’re the worst!!!” “You’re fantastic!!!” One call after another.
- No cell phones at desk or in pocket is the RULE. Don’t do it. HIPAA.
- Maybe dumb down the phone even more for breaks.
- The RSS reader is not allowed on my phone. It just makes me feel constantly behind. Instapaper and Kindle instead.
- The fast times and the quiet times.
- Be silly.
- Remember Jade and your friends.
- Same lunch every day.
- Don’t spend money on food at work.
Needed to clarify what the front of my notebook wallet is. So I made it Misha-ee.
One thing I’m learning commuting again is how minimal I keep my daily carry. Just removed my kindle. Going to read off my phone for now. Fanny pack. Notebook wallet. Keys. Phone. Lunch bag. That’s all I need right now.
