Good morning. It is Thursday, and it’s the end of the month, and I’m doing the end of the month tasks. Set up in my little writing station in the studio.
I need to remember my little pocket notebooks more. This month’s notebook is beautiful: a memorial to the penny. I’m finishing the month with about a quarter of it empty. I need to remember that it is there for me when screens are overwhelming, when thinking about living in the digital is too much. I can build a tangible world out of paper and grace.
New notebook process:
- choose new notebook from the 10 year supply I have. May notebook: part of a box set of shop notebooks, the first one, focused on woodworking.
- Write name, dates, and email address in the front cover.
- Sticker with a trans theme on one of the covers. Usual a carta monir sticker of either sleepaway camp or Let me Die a Woman. I need to order more of those.
- 3 sticky notes in the back so I can put to dos there.
- Write The First Page is Profound on the front.
- Put it in the notebook wallet.
- Old notebook goes in the notebook out tray.
These little rituals track time, and also track what makes the world work for us.
